Naukati Mud Bogg (NMB) Disclaimer
Participants are expected to be alert to inherent hazards of Mud Racing
competition and are expected to exercise good safety precautions and
procedures.
Safety's Importance
The primary responsibility for the safe condition and operation of a Mud Racer in competition rests with the vehicle owner and driver. The promoter assumes major responsibility for the operation of a safe Mud Race event. The total responsibility for Mud Racing's progress must be shared by everyone associated with the sport. Close observance of the standards set forth in this rulebook is an important fundamental. The standards set forth by the NMB will serve as guidelines based upon experience and professional mud racing. The NMB also serves as a coordinator and facilitator between the professional mud racers, the pit or facilities manager, and the promoter.
NMB Events
The following procedures will be used when designating sanctioning
approval status of Mud Racing events:
- All events must use a Timing Light System.
- Promoters must supply QUALIFIED First Aid services at all NMB events. The First Aid vehicle must have access to move in and out at all times.

- Promoters are to be aware that NMB members holding a valid
membership pit pass will be allowed into the event at NO CHARGE.
- Promoters must supply a designated vehicle tech-in area.
Saturday Night Shoot-Out
How we run it - We will take the four fastest times and put these four vehicles into the shoot-out race after the last class has run. One shot for the money!! THE 4 FASTEST TIMES NO MATTER WHAT CLASS. This will be the fastest single pass, not the average. It will be run as a bracket.
1st vs 4th.
2nd vs 3rd.
WINNER GOES TO FINAL, LOSER GOES HOME.
The purse for this race is provided be the Sponser. $500 minimum. Winner $350. Second pays $150. If there is a bigger purse, the 3rd and 4th will receive $100 each maximum. The difference will be divided between 1st and 2nd.

Each member and/or participant expressly agrees that the act of entering a NMB event shall constitute agreement by him/her to be bound by all the rules and regulations covering the event.
The participant agrees to be bound by any decisions of the event director and the NMB representative or his/her designee.
The member also agrees to release and waive from liability, and agrees not to bring any action against the event director, the NMB, or the event facility, event sponsors or any event officials for any loss, damage or injury caused by decision, erroneous or otherwise, whether based on negligence or otherwise, or by actions taken by the event director, the NMB representative or designee, or other event officials during the course of the event whether such actions constitute negligence or otherwise. The word "Participant" shall include any person
directly or indirectly associated with any vehicle lawfully upon the premises for the purpose of competition, included but not limited to, owners, drivers, and crew people.
The authority of the event directors to make decisions shall include and
cover any facet of any kind in connection with pits, the conducting of the competition, behavior of contestants, and shall include the right to

event. This does not include the shoot-out. In any sanctioned event, the driver must use the same vehicle that was originally used in the first round of competition for the second round of competition.
Registration and technical inspection of vehicles will be done at the designated area on the day of the event.
All vehicles must pass a safety inspection before entering the event. If two or three members own a vehicle together, they must use the same NMB competition number.
During competition year, the NMB office must be notified in writing after a sale and before the vehicle is registered for the next event.
One (1) point will be given per run (to a maximum of 4 points per class per event). A vehicle must run in the mud to qualify for any points.
The competitor will be required to notify the entry clerk of his withdrawal. At that time, the entry fee will be refunded - the competitor will not receive any points for attending the event.
Once a competitor has scratched from a class, they may not re-enter.
Once a competitor has pulled up to the start line, whether they have a measurable run or not, they will not be refunded their entry fee.

There must be a minimum of three (3) entrants to make a class; otherwise entrants will be bumped up to compete in the next higher class.
Any vehicle that passes inspection in their own class does not need to be re-teched for a higher class, provided that no modifications have been made to their vehicle.
Drivers will adhere to a walking speed limit in both the PIT area and the STAGING area.
No vehicle shall make a pre-run before or after the competition. This will result in ABSOLUTE DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE EVENT.
No vehicles shall run before 9 a.m. or after 9 p.m. in the pit or camp areas, unless an official escorts the vehicle.
No vehicles are allowed in the competition area during competition other than the competition vehicles. No spectators and unnecessary vehicles allowed.

Any person in the pit or competition area found to be under the influence of alcoholic beverages, regardless of the amount until the end of competition day, shall be ejected from the event. Such conditions are cause for suspension of competition privileges for the period of one (1) year at any NMB event. The executive of the Organization will handle any suspensions by written letter.
Mud Race Rules
The Mud Racer's primary objective is to drive a 4X4 vehicle through a
pit of mud as fast and as far as possible and become the overall
champion. We afford every Mud Racer an equal opportunity at the title.
Mud Racing competition consists of classes that are designed for
vehicles that are run in the everyday aspects of street use. Our
classes are also designed for the professional vehicle that is not
driven on the street.
An individual competes against the clock to have the shortest elapsed
time possible over the designated mud course. In order to allow each
competitor the fairest start possible:
*** The time starts when the vehicle moving forward breaks an electronic
beam. The time stops when the vehicle crossing the finish line breaks
an electronic beam.
*** Winners of each class will be determined by the combined average time from
the day's runs. The fastest combined time determines the winner.
*** In the event that the electronic timer fails, three stopwatches will
be used as backup and the middle time will be kept. Stopwatch time will
start at tire spin and stop as the front of the vehicle crosses the
finish line. The average time will be taken.
*** If a complete run is not made, a measurement from the front of the
vehicle will be used to determine the distance traveled.
*** Winners in each class are determined by the combined average time from the day's runs (using the best 3 of 4). The fastest average time determines the winner.
*** Distance and time are to be kept on all runs. In the event of a
tie, the combined distance plus the combined time will be used, with the
fastest time determining the winner.
*** Distance and/or time will be awarded to the vehicle, not the driver.
A vehicle may only compete ONCE in any class.
*** First pass of the weekend can be a throw away if the driver is at
the drivers meeting.
All competing vehicles will stage with the staging light. Vehicles must
come to a complete stop before breaking the starting beam. If a vehicle
does not come to a complete stop, a penalty of five (5) seconds added to
the time will be assessed in the event of a complete run, and a penalty
of ten (10) feet will be taken off the distance in the event of a distance run.
Staging Time: The time it takes to be at the start line in your running order. Staging time is to be a discretionary call. Depending on the circumstances, NMB officials will decide on the eligibility of a particular run. Competitors and their vehicles are urged to, and should, be prepared for their run, and be in the staging order on time.
Reasonable staging time and discretion of the NMB officials are the standing rule.
The first two vehicles in the BOGG must be pulled out forward.
Re-runs due to error, flagmen, timekeepers, or Promoter must be taken before the next class in that pit begins.
All vehicles must self-start and self-stage. It is not allowable to push-start or push-stage a vehicle. Staging must be done under the vehicle's own power.
No vehicles will be allowed to use Reverse at any time during a run.
AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION will result unless directed by MUDD RATT.
Once you have broken staging beam you can no longer back up (unless
stager backs you up).
Exhibition Runs - Non members must be teched and run at the end of the
day with a cost of $20.00 per run. Members can run at the end of their
class at no charge. No points or money will be awarded.
If any part of a vehicle comes out of the pit or into contact with any
equipment, you will be DISQUALIFIED.
If a vehicle starts at the lights before the green light and the red light comes up on the tree - you will be DISQUALIFIED.
Once a vehicle has ceased forward motion and been flagged, it is not
permitted to move again.
In the event that a vehicle stalls in the pit, the vehicle has thirty (30) seconds to restart the forward motion. Drivers and co-drivers may not get out of the vehicle.
Any vehicle that digs unnecessary holes in the pit after being flagged will be automatically disqualified for that run.
Driver's hands must be visible to the flagman during hook-up.
NMB officials are to check to ensure that Nitrous bottles are sealed at the start line, except in MODIFIED COMPACT, MODIFIED FULLSIZE and SUPER MODIFIED classes.
No member, competitor or their pit crew shall ask timekeepers, officials, or flagmen for any competitor's distance, time or placing during competition. This is ground for disqualification of the vehicle in question. All competition data will be posted after each class has been completed.
Violation of any governed rule shall constitute a disqualification.
Protests
Protests and/or complaints against a competitor, competitor's run, etc. must be filed on a Protest form, signed by the protestor on the time board by the pit official, and resolved by the pit officials before the next class runs in the pit.
Any contestant who feels that another contestant's vehicle is illegal may protest that vehicle. A protest form must be filed with a $200 cash deposit. Tear down will be after event. If the vehicle is legal, the deposit will be forfeit, and the tear down will be put back to original condition. If the vehicle is illegal, the protestor will be refunded their deposit and the tear down does not have to be put back
together. The illegal vehicle loses points and moneys earned and all
points from previous races.
Any competitor refusing a tear down will automatically be ruled to be running illegal.
Any competitor found to be running illegal will be banned from competition at any NMB event for one RACE from the date of the infraction.
Head NMB officials are the people in charge of the NMB personnel.
During the event itself, these officials will be the people with authority to suspend or disqualify a driver or vehicle from competition.
The decision of the official on any point in question will be final.
Any protests or complaints must go to these people. NMB officials may call upon the NMB RACE DIRECTIOR for a decision regarding any protest.
If the Safety Committee is called on any point in question, their decision will be final.
Safety Committee
1. The safety committee will consist of three (3) P.O.W.O.R.C. members who are knowledgeable in the mechanical aspects of 4-wheel drive vehicles and who have been nominated for this position. The P.O.W.O.R.C. President will be used for any tie-breaking decision.
2. They will be authorized to inspect any competition vehicle, at anytime, at all NMB events.
3. The rules used for inspection shall be the NMB approved rules and regulations.
4. All NMB competition vehicles will be inspected at the first event of the season, and will be inspected again at any given time during the season.
5. Any competition vehicle not previously inspected must be inspected before entering any event.
6. The Safety Committee shall be the final authority on any alleged regulation infraction. NMB officials, P.O.W.O.R.C. members or non-member competitors, cannot overrule committee decisions.
7. The Committee must be informed of any rule governed alterations made to a previously inspected vehicle. The committee shall determine the legality of any such alterations.
8. An inspected competitor who has made an illegal alteration, as determined by the Safety Committee, shall be barred from competition for one Race from date of the infraction.
9. A checklist form must be used for initial inspection and must be kept by the Safety Committee representatives. Any alterations must be noted on the original form.
10. Protests shall be filed according to NMB rules and regulations. All teardowns are to be done by the Safety Committee, or in their presence. Note: Situations may arise that are not precisely covered in these procedures. The NMB Safety Committee will make a ruling consistent with other rulings in situations of the same nature. The Committee will make all interpretations of these rules, and these judgments are final.
The safety/tech committee member at the end of the pit will have a fire extinguisher with them at all times.
Point System
Points will be tabulated to establish a year-end overall point champion and a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place champion in each class. The Overall Championship is awarded to the vehicle that has accumulated the most number of points out of a single class throughout the season. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place championship in each class is awarded to the vehicles that have accumulated the most number of points in each class throughout the season. Points will be tabulated through the NMB office with current standings made available by inquiring with the office at anytime. Points will be awarded on a one-vehicle format. To receive points, the vehicle must be registered with the NMB for the current season. If at any time during the season, a vehicle change occurs, a new set of points will be started. If a vehicle breaks down during an event, no vehicle may be substituted for that vehicle. Any vehicle proven to be competing illegally by the Safety Committee will automatically lose any points it may have accumulated. All points awarded are the property of the vehicle and cannot be transferred to another vehicle or class under any circumstances. A vehicle owner may sell the vehicle, including the registration number and accumulated points. All points for all classes will go with the vehicle. Registered vehicles will receive one "show up" point if there
is not a full Class.
Points will be awarded in the following manner for all Classes:
